About the project
We are looking for an experienced Senior .NET C# Backend Engineer with strong expertise in Elasticsearch to join a data-driven project in the financial services sector.
Our client partners with banks to help them analyze and improve their operational risk profile through advanced data processing and AI-powered solutions.
As part of the project, you will design and develop backend data ingestion services responsible for populating Elasticsearch indexes from streaming data sources.
Working Hours Candidates are expected to provide at least 3 hours of overlap with UK business hours (09:00–17:00 UK time).
Your responsibilities
- Design and implement high-performance .NET services responsible for indexing data into Elasticsearch.
- Develop one service that consumes events from Azure Event Hub.
- Develop one service that processes events from Apache Kafka.
- Transform incoming data into a shared canonical data model.
- Enrich Kafka-based events with additional metadata before indexing.
- Ensure efficient, reliable, and scalable data processing.
- Follow existing implementation patterns based on similar ingestion processes already available within the project.
- Collaborate with the development team to deliver clean, maintainable, and high-quality code.
Our requirements
- 5+ years of commercial experience with .NET / C#.
- Strong hands-on experience with Elasticsearch.
- Experience building event-driven or streaming data processing applications.
- Practical knowledge of Apache Kafka and/or Azure Event Hub.
- Experience designing data mapping and transformation processes.
- Understanding of backend architecture and integration patterns.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to code quality.
- Good command of English (spoken and written).
- Experience with cloud-based solutions, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Experience working on data engineering or analytics platforms.
- Knowledge of operational risk or financial services projects.
